I commend Kelsey on such an insightful and well-written proposal. Such an expression of free speech and assembly (albeit virtual) is a true exercise of our democratic values. I hope for the sake of Louisiana's residents that Gov. Jindal will reconsider his position. Best Wishes.

I am not a Louisiana resident, but as a US citizen, I find Governor Jindal almost as scary a prospect as George W. Bush. His ideas are misguided, and his ability to communicate is terrible. It felt like he was talking to 5 year-olds during the GOP response to the State of the Union. This man should not be allowed in the White House in 4, 8 or more years.

How irresponsible for a governor not to do everything he can to help his constituents in such a dire economic situation! Jindal is yet another Republican out of step with common Americans.

Refusing aid- especially a state as hard hit as Louisiana - is just foolish. Jindal is playing politics at the expense of the people of Louisiana. Jindal should be impeached!

Jindal help the people in your state. With out that unemployment many common people will be with out food, water, electricity, if this doesn't mean anything to you, you should grad a box leave your big fancy house and live under a bridge for a few months. then tell me the people of your state don't need it.

You spent the money given to you for Katrina relief to build casino's and so many of your citizens still don't have homes. You need to think more about the people of your state, and less about your selfish party.

Dear Gov. Jindal,
As a concerned citizen of the United States I was deeply disturbed by your embarrassing excuse for a response to President Barack Obama. I was told you were to be an intelligent man, especially since you are a Rhodes Scholar. Clearly, this assumption by others is deeply misguided since you believe that the United States can solve all their problems with tax cuts and little government intervention. In this sense, you are no more intelligent than the former president.

I understand from other sources that Gov. Jindal is an intelligent man. One would never know that from the "response" he gave to President Obama's address. I suggest he fire his "handlers" and speechwriters and be himself, if he's able to at this point. The GOP machine is a very difficult thing to overcome.

You need to help this state by accepting the stimulus money, especially since this state is still recovering from several hurricanes. The federal government may not be so willing to help in the future if you don't. It would help to prevent closing Earl K Long Hospital, which provides so much good service to the poor.

We still have our own goals we need to succed and getting out of this recession shouldn't be one of them, but it is, due to our previous president and the republican party who restrics any process and brings policies that will destroy our American dream.

Governor Jindal has shown his contempt for the poor and working-class people of his state by his rejection of Federal unemployment extension funds; for the Constitution by fostering the teaching of creationism (disguised as "intelligent design") in public schools; and for the truth, with his mendacious posturing about open government when he exempts his own office from such openness. And on top of that, he is an arrogant, condescending creep!
